Well two Saturdays we forced some family fun on the kids. We didn't tell them where we were going just that they needed to wear comfy shoes and dress warm. I thought the dress warm might of tipped them off but it didn't.
So we got up early Saturday morning and after a bit of whining and gripping, (nothing like FFF if there isn't whining).
We leave on time only because we told them a false time so SKYE and VANNAH would be ready. On the road we go!!!! Mammoth Cave is only about 1 & 1/2 hours from our house. We stopped in on the Great Golden Arches which I am not a very big fan of and scrarffed down some vittles. (We're in Kentuckey, I can talk like that).
Then we head over to the cave to pick up our tickets we had reserved beforehand (thank goodness or there would have been no tour). We wait around for our time and then on to the school busses waiting for us. They drive us into the woods and then stop on the side of the road beside a deep hole in the earths surface and we embark on a four hour tour, four hour tour. Then the weather started getting rough and our tiny ship was lost if not.........sorry, sorry all in my head. Next, we go through a door and then go down I think 223 steps, Seth and Trent were counting. Poor Trent bumped his head, all tall people had alot of dunking to do all day. We walked for about an hour then stopped for lunch then on again for 3 more hours.
We had such a great time and we wore everyone out, me included. I had trouble walking down stairs for a few days after. The babies slept all the way home. It was just like old days. It's so nice as a parent to still be able to steal them for a day and not share with anything else.
I'm currently planning FFF Day #2!!!!!!!!
